  • Finally! Tired of all the big, dusty, old fashioned choirs I find on Youtube singing the other version of this song, producing a lot of noise, but barely any music, I started smiling when I listened to the sound of this recording. Yes folks, this is singing!

  • @niekdd Wow! Thank you for your words, niekdd. Actually, we didn't know this carol before, so maybe that's why we did a somewhat different version, I don't know.

I'm glad you enjoyed this. And thanks for your suscription!

  • singing this in church tomorrow... beautiful song :)

  • Your ensemble sings so beautifully and with such wonderful dynamics. Perhaps you know that your performance is linked on a website. I was searching for some nice Christmas pieces there for the quartet I am part of at my church and your performance truly inspired me to choose it. I also feel a little bit connected to your group since I work for a company based near Barcelona and I have enjoyed traveling to Spain a few times. Gracias y un abrazo!

  • @niekdd I agree! Paul Gerhardt was such a wonderful Christian poet. Whenever I get depressed about my sin, I take out my hymnal and read some of his hymns. Here is my favorite stanza to this hymn:

If our blessèd Lord and Maker

    Hated men, would He then

    Be of flesh partaker?

If He in our woe delighted,

Would He bear all the care of our race benighted?

Then I ask, who can possibly be against us? Very beautiful voices too!

  • This is so lovely! I sang alto in this arrangement many, many years ago as a teenager and haven't heard it since. Very well done.

  • This is beautiful!!!

    We're trying it this year.

  • yes - beautifully sung.

  • This was absolutely beautiful. Ebeling based his tune on Crueger's, which I think is better, but alas, it is not be found on youtube.
