This is a job I worked on today. This is 1/4" plate cut at 45 amps, 40 ipm, with my AVHC set to 130 volts. I can cut hotter and faster than this (Hypertherm Powermax G3 1250 with Duramax machine torch), but I find I get best cut quality edges at lower amperage and speeds.

The table is a Torchmate 2x4 with a custom built water-table.

Sorry if the sound is loud.... can't do much about that.

  • Yes, the torch is just using dry, compressed air. I can cut faster than what I do in the video, but I found I get the best edge by using the lowest amperage possible and then an appropriate speed for that amperage. If I wanted to blow through it, I could crank it up to 85 amps and probably double the speed or so.

  • Incredible. I've never seen something like that before. Is that gun using compressed air and water too? Wow.
