Amtrak Regional 174 departing DC at 9:25 AM on 12/11/07. It was a perfect set up for taking train videos. I had an Acela on both sides of the train when we departed plus we passed a few MARC trains and a DC Metro train. Enjoy
@Trainlover4ever2006 The problem occurs at small stations when Amtrak police are around there. This has to do with Amtrak's unclear photography policy which seems to suggest that photography is prohibited at all stations but non-ticketed visitors.
@Trainlover4ever2006 Most Amtrak stations are not actually restricted. In fact they are public areas usually owned by the town or city. The only restricted platforms are at big stations. New York-Penn, Albany, NY, and Wilmington, DE come to mind first. Now a few restricted stations aren't a problem. In fact it's probably better New York-Penn is that way because it just gets too packed as it is. There's no room to railfan.
@Trainlover4ever2006 Yeah they have really gone too far with the security thing. I seriously don't understand it. They can't seem to realize that there's no way to stop or eliminate all terrorists. In fact none of these so called "security measures" would likely stop another 9/11 from taking place. The only reason 9/11 can't be repeated is because of indestructible cockpit doors installed in planes. Instead of looking for possible terrorists we need to lessen the impact an attack can cause.
The Amtrak station near me is restricted to Ticketed passenger only...It appears as if you can't railfan anywere anymore unless you are traveling... because of heightened security everywhere...and I mean everywhere you go. OMG.
@Trainlover4ever2006 I'm not sure but people hardly railfan there so I'm guessing the answer is yes.

@murjax Will they kick you out of the MN section or NJT section of NYP or just the Amtrak section.

@Trainlover4ever2006 They were just very lucky. Once they spot you they kick you out fast.

@murjax I saw some of SuperStarRendom's videos at NY Penn and I think he got some Amtrak and NJT trains on the platform leaving.
