@danielwvu most of the corn we plant is not for human consumption. it is for livestock. and all of the corn for ethanol goes to the livestock after the starch is taken out. 100% of the protein is left in the corn. the protein is what you want not the starch. starch isn't easy for animals to digest any way. i don't think you realize how much 13 billion gallons of ethanol is. their isn't a country on this planet that could increase oil production enough to replace the gas equivalent gallons of it.

i am not a fan of subsidy ether. but i doubt Barbara Mikulski has a clue how much this country needed the over 13 billion gallons of ethanol fuel that the us produced last year alone. people should realize that you have to start somewhere you can't just jump into second generation bio fuels that aren't even ready yet. and i think it would be a bad idea to wait until we have fuel shortages before we try and get off of oil. oil is more tied into the price of everything than STARCH from corn.
