Good looking dog. We have three heelers and you're right, they are high performance dogs but their personalities make it far worth the work. Besides, a true bond with your dog means getting out and doing things that THEY like too. We work our dogs hard for 1-2 hours minimum daily because all of ours are under 2 years, but they are amazing dogs because of it. Great job with yours.

He looks sooooo much like mine!! 'Cept my girl is gettin' a little chubby. She will chase and fetch her ball for hours!! I'll sit on the couch and she'll walk up and plop that darn ball on my lap so i will throw it across the family room!! Can't walk through the house without having to give that ball a kick so she can chase it.. hilarious...

@eriksmith1 He is a very beautiful dog. I WAS interested in one until I found out that they're just as hyper as Border collies. How much time do you spend draining his energy everyday?
FattyDudley 5 months ago
@FattyDudley You are correct. They are just as high energy as BCs. Boomer is 5 years now so we are down to 45 minutes a day of vigorous exercise. It was 1.5-2 hours a day. Boomer is average in activitly level for ACDs. A walk will do nothing to tire him. There are a lot of great things about this breed, ease of care is not one of them. High performance dogs have high performance needs.

How long did it take to teach him all those commands..

@TheShadyNight
He learned those in about a week. It took a month of daily practice until he was 100% reliable.
