I really like Maria Ewing's voice and how she presents herself on stage. I love how amazing Bizet's music is, and particularly this song; the music is very interesting to listen to and kind of makes you feel like you're in 19th-century Spain.
- I'd like to add that I like the part where the man pushes the gypsy girl into the wall and all you hear is a loud "thump" LOL :)

strongly agree...

@coreygallai I believe her character and others were feeling bored with the dancing entertainment so when she began it was to differentiate her magnetic charms from other women there.

Поет отлично, но в некоторых местах ее манера пения просто убивает.

For some reason she looks bored in this clip. Great song though

My favorite Carmen by far! As one starting to study this roll, I only hope to be half as wonderful. Not the best staging and costuming but the best actual performance I've seen. If we want to nitpick, I'll agree that Covent Garden is the best for costuming with Antonacci, but the performance matters more than what they look like.
Brava, Maria Ewing!

She always has the craziest facial expressions. Her eyes are so large and frightening.

This is the best Carmen and has never been launched on DVD. Why? Can anyone tell me?
