Obama: Understanding the Clinton Budget Surplus

Senator Obama stated a little history lesson was important when evaluating the current budget deficits. No truer words were ever spoken. This video not only confirms the obvious fact there was a budget surplus during the Clinton years but it goes further and shows how it happened. There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact. Never will you see a better example of deception with an obvious fact. The entire economy and world situation has changed and Senator Obama can do nothing but use deception to try and foster support. At the end of the Clinton administration it was a known fact the entitlement obligations were going to overwhelm the country in debt and Senator Obama has chosen to ignore this fact. This is further evidence of Senator Obama's culture of corruption.

The poor pay taxes as well. All Americans contribute to the system. I would rather the FEDERAL taxes that get ripped off of my UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE every week go towards helping the poor people of this nation instead of nation building overseas.

I think people should be given a choice.

If you can afford it, then buy health insurance. If you can afford but choose to NOT buy health insurance, then dont start complaining when youre on your death bed.

People that cannot afford healthcare should be given some type of help since they have NO CHOICES. Poor people pay taxes too.

Hell, even my UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE gets taxed! FEDRAL AND LOCAL! Im tired of rich people using the "I pay taxes" line. So do we and we dont have choices.

You've failed to include intragovernmental debt in the charts. That wipes out all the alleged surpluses.

My point is that a population that is aging (requiring more health care) and a population 2/3rds overweight (requiring more health care) is not going to meet the desired health care requirements for all its citizens. This is before considering the requirements of Social Security. We are moving from 35 million retired to 75 million retired.
