This isn't a tutorial, but a look at why you should soft-mod your Wii and the benefits of loading games from a usb hard drive with apps such as WiiFlow 2.2. I created this video/channel out of frustration since there were not many clear or concise guides on the net when I soft-modded my on Wii.
There's plenty of reasons why you might want to mod our Wii, maybe you want to play backed-up games from a hard drive or usb stick, maybe you want all of the old Nintendo (Nes or Snes) games at your disposal so you can kick back and ol' school it with the Wii remote. Other reasons for modding your Wii could be the ability to use your Wii to stream your movies, homevideos, and music from your Mac or PC to your Wii without the wires and aggravation.
What ever your reason may be for modding your Wii, it's never been easier than now. With only a few basic tools (which you may already own), a couple hours of time, and a desire to get the most of your Wii console, you can soft-mod your Wii and be the happiest gamer in your neighborhood. No opening your console, no chips, no soldering, just a little bit of copy-and-paste knowledge and you're on your way!
I'll put out a video for every thing I've applied to my own Wii including:
Adding The Homebrew Channel
Backing up your nand
Installing and configuring Priiloader
How to block online and disk updates that could harm your modded Wii
Restoring the Trucha Bug
Patching your ios
Adding a custom ios
Installing WiiFlow and other usb loaders for playing games from a hard drive
Backing up and copying games to a usb storage device
Installing media streamers
Installing Nes, Snes, Sega, and Atari emulators
Adding channels to your home screen for these different apps
adding custom themes
and any future add-on that may come out.
This video is the first of my "Wii soft-modding series" in which i explain with clear, step-by-step videos and I promise to use a tripod instead of shaking the camera around like chocolate milk. If you want to request a video of any stage of the soft-modding process, feel free.
Be sure to subscribe to the channel so you can get the latest info on future updates and features, share the video and help soft-mod the entire planet.
Once you start the soft-modding process, if you use my guides, stick with my guides. Mixing instructions from different sources can cause major problems and you could easily get confused along the way. I try to think 2 steps ahead and provide you with all the needed tools and links to download the files you need for this to work. Over time, different Homebrew apps may change or become out-dated or replaced with newer ones, all of my videos come from the same Wii console without any change to ensure accuracy when you apply these techniques. If any links become broken by their creator, I'll try to catch it and replace them with working links.
@eaanddee:
It's not really new, just over-looked by most because the original modders got hooked on usbloader gx and cfg loader even though those can't compare to Wiiflow.

I just post How to Soft-mod your Wii Step 2- Backing up your nand and installing priiloader for extra protection against un-wanted disk and online updates. Priiloader also allows you to restore your Wii in the case that a problem occurred down the road.
The next video will be Step 3- Installing a custom ios (CIOS), a cios is needed to run apps like Wiiflow or USBloaderGx. In the 4th video, I'll show you how to successfully install Wiiflow so you can play games from a hard drive or usb stick.

I just posted Step 1 of "How to soft-mod your Wii"-Installing The Homebrew channel. Homebrew Channel is what you will need to install in order to further modify your Wii console with apps such as Wiiflow, USBloader Gx, or NES Emulators. If you have the Homebrew Channel installed already, be patient as I'll bring you the rest of the series soon. There are a few other decent tutorials out there if you'd rather not wait.

@MAFIA100k:
I'm working on the Wiiflow tutorial over the next couple days actually. Ad far as the games, download WBFS Manager and use it to copy games to your storage device. It'll even extract .rar files automatically. I'll let you know as soon as I get the tutorial up, I had to wait for an extra softmod job before I could make it happen but I'm chopping video now.

I added a link to the WiiFlow download site to the description above. Down load the version that's compatable with your cios, example: mine is cios 249. You want to put it in your "apps" folder on your SD card and make sure you name it "wiiflow". the "boot.dol" file needs to be visible in the wiiflow folder for homebrew to find it.

@btthepunk:
No, Wiiflow has to be installed by copying the correct files to your SD card (or hard drive) and accessed from your Homebrew Channel. After you have Wiiflow working, you can install what's called a Wiiflow Forwarder Channel (like mine in the video) so you can access Wiiflow by clicking the channel instead of going through the Homebrew Channel.
