  • You can't imagine a conversation like this on breakfast television now.

It's old gems like this that make you realise how much the media has dumbed down, and how political journalism has declined in the last 30 years.

They'd have Divina McCall or somebody on now to talk about the budget.

  • What about the infamous interview during the 1987 election between Healey and Diamond where she quizzed him about his wife's private operations?

  • What a tool

  • True enough Feliciter. What I find amazing is Mr Healey around 4 minutes into the interview predicts the 2008 Credit Crunch. His remarks about financial deregulation and breaking down the important barriers between building societies and banks are very prophetic indeed. Confirms my suspicions that our crisis today started with Reagan and Thatcher.

  • Thatcher is responsible for all the deregulation that has caused all these problems. If the free-market freaks were consistent they would have let it all collapsed and not intervened at all. Public intervention is back on the cards; i'd much rather have Healey as chancellor rihg tnow than Darling.

  • They only patched up their differences in the last few years. Healey saw Diamond at a dinner and told her the reason he reacted the way he did is because she brought his wife into it.

I saw Healey on TV just yesterday, he's in his 90s now but still looks sprightly. I'll have some of what he's having!

  • How do you figure that?

  • Yeah, Today, America is up to its eyeballs in debt just like Japan and Blighty.

Its people like this man who has destroyed our economy.

Time has proven Thatcher had it right all along.

  • Very eloquent and fast thinking guy.

  • Shame the labour party did not have this guy, right now!
