My apologies for butchering the Irish pronunciations...

[Am] Lift MacCahir[Em] Og your face[Am] brooding o'er the[Em] old disgrace
That[Am] black FitzWilliam[Em] stormed your place, [C]drove you to the[Am] Fern
[Am]Grey said victor[Em]y was sure[Am] soon the firebrand[Em he'd secure;
Un[Am]til he met at[Em] Glenmalure with[C] Feach MacHugh O'[Am]Byrne.

Ch.:[Em] Curse and swear Lord Kildare
[G]Feagh will do what Feach will dare
[EmNow FitzWilliam, have a care
[G]Fallen is your[Am] star, low
[Em]Up with halberd out with sword
On[G] we'll go for by the lord
[Em]Feach MacHugh has given the word,
[G]Follow me up to[Am] Carlow.

See the swords of Glen Imayle, flashing o'er the English Pale
See all the children of the Gael, beneath O'Byrne's banners
Rooster of the fighting stock, would you let a Saxon cock
Crow out upon an Irish rock, fly up and teach him manners.

From Tassagart to Clonmore, there flows a stream of Saxon gore
Och, great is Rory Oge O'More, sending the loons to Hades.
White is sick and Lane is fled, now for black FitzWilliam's head
We'll send it over, dripping red, to Queen Liza and the ladies.

  • never care for your accent, man, you've performed this very nice. At least you've put a lot of power in the song, what is more difficult since you perform alone,. Three cheers for you and shame on the large and famous Celtic groups who did this song impotently. Greetings from Poland!!

  • Wow, you have a beautiful voice, and you sing very good songs, These are my favorites. Thank you!

  • like!

  • But that's what I meant O.o

He said it like Germans would pronounce Leisa. (Layza)

  • Oh and I think Liza is pronounced Lee-za rather than Ly-za, it's from Elisabeth, referring to the English queen of the period.

  • Me again :) Great performance! Just the way you say Feach is a bit annoyong for me dik why ;)

  • Hey Leon here..greetings from Ireland...

I love your songs, I sing and play a little myself, if you dont mind me saying so, you've good reach in your voice, perhaps you should use the cappo to move things up a couple of semi-tones.. you seem more comfortable singing there...

Your follow me up to carlow is a difficult song to do... fair play for your version, but dont call it Gaelic... call it irish... gaelic makes you sound like a tourist.. when your heart is obviously really in it.. slán

  • I've watched all the other versions of this song on YouTube and this is the best yet! The simple sound of voice and guitar do an excellent job of telling the story of Fiach MacHugh.

Your accent is fairly good, but at first I thought this must be a Scottish ballad. Your style reminds me of Andy M. Stewart. :)

  • WEll done mate thought tat was good! Certainly has a bit of passion!
