The best and most amazing guitar players with amazing techniques likw holdsworth, tuck, frank etc learned simply by trying to mimick other instruments like the saxaphone and trumpet amazingly to me. Joe satriani got most of his phrasing from listening to singers believe or not which i do all the time and try to incorporate that into my own creations which i am sure a lot of you do. You woo millions with a few well plased phrasings my friends and not even be that good, thats what i love in guitar

I always try to look at the guitars player that are famous, but don't do a lot of shreding per say like Yngwie for example. I try to liten to people that have a more melodic aproach and still have solo's that get some kind of speed going. I swear if i worried about playing as good as frank gambale i would have had a stroke by now, or 2, it's just not going to happen for 90% of us, but don't worry man, we are all stars in our own right. If it sounds right to your ears, it is right my friends.

even though i am not famous or as good as probably every pro in the world, i get great enjoyment listening to these guys and drawing inspiration to make my own playing better and developing my guitar voice with the help of my hero's. I have long since matured out of comparing guitar players and focus on gaining knowledge and tips and such. It's so much better when you are focusing on you and no how much better other are. Before you know it, your doing things you never though you could, like me.

competition and "ooh im better than you" type people just breed more and more these days. cause the hard way in people want everyone else to have the hard way in while the easy way in people are considered posers or fakes. i guess what im tryna say is. the next time you come across a prick faced asswipe kid who thinks his cocky attitude is really just confidence. lay em out.

its like when a kid who never fights walks into an MMA class and wants to learn but then finds that he already knows how. and the veteran fighters who train blood and sweat there day and night dont like that. just like the cool kid in the living room playing dragonforce speed shit riffs on his guitar sees another kid come along whos only picked up a guitar twice in his life but has an ear for music and just digs it. Mr "i studied hard for years and learned everything" doesnt like that very much.

There are a lot of amazing guitar players. I consider myself fortunate to have learned first-hand from superb musicians who happened to play the guitar while demonstrating "negative stage presence," Tuck Andress and Roy Buchanan among them. I'd rather listen to a musician than to a guitar player. Thanks, Tuck!

@TheTribalAddict This is nice but did any 'Tuck' fan ever hear Tommy Emmanuel play this classic?! ... Talking about harmonics ... !!

all these stupid ass comments....this guy is off the charts, amazing...his playing is not "jumbled together", or "pretentious" or "self-indulgent"....its creative, improvisational and innovative....and the dumb shits that posted this nonsense suck @ guitar, garunteed
Its so cool when JS Bach teleports through time to give you a guitar master class.

Why does playing the guitar have to be a competition?? I like how steve vai once said "I am always trying to better myself as a musician when somebody comes along who is capable of doing something beyond what I can do, I just find that as an inspiration, I would be a fool if I competed with the people I have replaced."
