I've given you a thumbs-up, but if I can't do this with my tyre, I'm gonna take it back. So, thanks... for now!

@twilwel , Thats one thing for sure .

Haha, that's like a magic trick. I just put a tire back on mine and looked in horror at how tight the remaining section was, but all I had to do was this. Resorted to levers, will try this next time.

Thank-you for this. So simple when you know how!

Known about this for years, it works, but what the video doesn't show you is what it's like doing it in the real world when your tyre and rim are covered in road grime, and brake dust. The only way of doing it is to brace it against your stomach or chest so you end up with a dirty line across your clothes from the tyre!

@beachedbum3 What you write is certainly true for most bikes. That's another reason I like my Mango with it's single sided suspension of all wheels. I always have a spare tire and tubes with me which are clean. I just need to wipe off the rim (yes, piece of cloth also always inside my velo) when necessary and do not need to brace the wheel against my body.
I fix the tube at home and check the tire for sharp objects.

try doing that on a old marathon plus tire, very stiff an almost impossible to get off and on a rim without tools.

@metro2002 A Marathon Plus almost never punctures.... The technique above is not always enough, but it always makes it easier to get the tire off.

Very Informative.
