It's no surprise at all, solving the rubik's cube is so freaking easy. People are just to lazy to learn the easiest thing ever.

I know he's probably very good. All I was saying is the wording in the video doesn't actually talk about his skill, just that he competed. He could be the best at the puzzle ever and the wording in the video would not tell me that.

@TheAdmiralPancake Competing is meaningless. Solving has some significance - particularly at the remarkable age of five.

Well, of course he COMPETED against people nine times his age... and got absolutely creamed. It's like my five year old brother who COMPETED in an open SC:BW tournament. I'm sure there were people nine or more times his age, and they beat him. Competing shows no skill. Winning does.
