This is an AutoCopter Explorer being directed by the ground control station. The flight computer controls the helicopter - it takes direction on what maneuvers to perform based on commands issued by the ground control station. The operator uses a gaming joystick to "direct" the helicopter. A 900 MHz modem is mounted to the right tail boom support strut - the ground control station communicates with the flight computer via this data link.

The helicopter power plant is a turbine-jet engine which uses Jet-A fuel and has an endurance of approximately 50 minutes when fully loaded with a 25 pound payload. With a 3-bladed main rotor system the payload capability increases significantly.
