I havnt exported into maya as of yet. However, there are guides.
That should contain the information you are looking for. The Softimage Wiki is the best online source of information regarding softimage.

Apologies I cant post the link.... keep getting a gay error message. Just type into google Export Rig into Maya from Softimage... You should find the Exporting Animation Rigs (Shapes) softimage wiki tut.
