WFBR 1300 AM received from Philadelphia on August 9, 1982 at 3.13 a.m. Al St. John overnight announcer. 13FBR was dominant on this frequency listening from Philly back then. Al St. John always had a good show. The engineer sent me a "Mad Radio 13" QSL card back in 1981. The card was from their 70s period. This station was carrying the Orioles games when this was recorded.

WFBR 1300 on the dial became WLIF-AM in 1990. I was once the highest rated radio station in the area. Harry Schriber was the owner/general manager and was never afraid to try something new and daring.

Love the Orioles memory....the O's announcer was Tom Marr who's now a talk show host on WCBM, 680, here in Baltimore...

I loved this station in the late 60's....my favorite DJ was Johnny Catino...does anyone know if he is still around? I also would LOVE to find out the name and artist of the song he used to end his show with....PLEASE, anyone remember it???

Thanks for this great memory! I also grew up listening to WFBR. Johnny Walker's show was considered pretty risque then (although no one would even think twice about his antics these days!) R.I.P., Johnny!
It was around this era that 'FBR became the first AM station in Baltimore to broadcast in stereo. As I recall you could hear it without an AM stereo tuner by using two radios, tuning one slightly lower in frequency and the other slightly higher. It sorta worked...

WFBR was my station. I grew up listening to Johnny Walker, Larry "Ol' Dirty Shirt"
Walton, Dave Harrison, Flying Dutchman, Charlie Donovan, Bob Moke & Bob Bolton.
I had a bunch of WFBR memorabilia. I'd love to have again the cassette Johnny Walker released w/ his song, "Take My Psychedelic Love and Cram It Straight Up
Your Heart." I'd also loved to have again the survey the station released in 1978.
It was The Top 1000 Hits from 1955-1978. Thanks for posting this video.
