Our entry level laminated upright bass or AKA plywood upright bass. Simplistic in design and construction yet elegant and terrific sounding. Like all Upton Basses this laminated bass is entirely Handmade in our Stonington Workshop. A bass without all the un-necessary bells an whistles made to get the job done. The EXACT same body design, construction and identical components as our Deluxe Laminated Bass but without the costly face veneers, inlaid purfling and a more plain Maple neck. All Upton Bass instruments are entirely hand made in our Stonington, Connecticut workshop Professionally setup specific to your playing style. Feature top Grade ebony components, hand applied varnish, German tuning Machines and more. Think of our UB Standard laminate as a beautiful BMW without the frills like leather interior, heated seats etc. The same drive and the same performance without paying for the aesthetic extras.

  • These new videos and presence on youtube really help long distance shoppers evaluate your basses' sound. Thanks!

  • I'm having the bass set up more for rockabilly slap, but also to be capable of playing some classic jazz too. I'll be starting out without an amp until I get used to the instrument so I'm curious to see how well the Silver Slaps sound unplugged. Although I've heard that they're somewhat louder than guts, I'm sure I'll be looking for an amp a lot sooner than I thought. LOL.

  • What strings are on the bass in this video?

  • Great bass and video! Funny--I was just thinking about using my Zoom H2 as an ext mic for my Sony a55 camera. Then I see the note you posted at the end of this video. Sounds fantastic! I'm going to try it!

    Again, that's a great bass.

  • Sounds a lot better than my Shen SB80.

  • ive had mine for a few years now. still as awesome as the day i got it. upton have great service and products. i recommend them to anyone looking for an upright bass

  • I've had mine for a few weeks now and I couldnt be happier with it. the audio in this video is VERY true to its real timbre.

  • Just ordered mine a couple of days ago... I've got a while to go still, but man I can't wait for the day the Fed Ex guy knocks on my door!!!

  • Mine was strung withh D'Addario Helicore which are a good all around string . I would like to try the Weed wackers. What kind of music do you play?

  • That's awesome, dude! What strings are you using? I've got about two more weeks to wait and I'm really chomping at the bit. According to Kate at UB, the bass is built and ready for varnish. I ordered a set of Innovation Silver Slaps to string it with. Can't wait !

  • Yeah they do .Great people wether your a beginner like me or a pro, you will be happy.
