  • How did she manage to get the opportunity to sing for WVEC and did she do it for other stations as well?

  • @Cyclops236 ABC probably arranged it for the local stations that wanted it. I haven't seen any other local versions of the 90-91 "America's Watching" campaign, but they're probably out there somewhere.

  • That voice sounds like Sheryl Crow was that actually her singing "Hampton Roads is watching WVEC"?

  • @Cyclops236 That's actually Jill Colucci, who sang the theme song to "America's Funniest Home Videos" and the 1989 ("Something's Happening") and 1990 ("America's Watching") ABC campaign songs.

  • and the 1988 Something's Happening campaign with Bill Champlin.

  • @ntropolis Whoever posts them on YouTube should know that I'm a huge fan of this version of the ABC Campaign if other versions are posted I would be thrilled to see those station ID's and bumpers as well. If Jill Colucci is still alive I would love to meet her in person one day.

  • @ntropolis I remember the theme song to America's Funniest Home Videos I just never knew who it was. I didn't see her name in the credits that's probably why I never heard of her. I never knew about her working for ABC but the only thing I remember was the ABC Sunday Night Movie bumper in the 90's where the letters abc pop up but 12 to 15 seconds later The words pop up like magic at the end. I remember Ernie Anderson however.

  • @WVECSpirit KTAB in Abilene Texas also has a thing called Spirit of the Big Country but that was also when I was a kid and get this they stopped using the word spirit in 1997.

  • Catchy tune!

  • WFAA is the flagship for Belo Television (company that owns WVEC). The "Spirit" thing is something of a corporate identifier.
