Its just the beginning Annie. The point is there shouldn't be any reforms on the second amendment. Can i ask you a question? What was the 2nd amendment intended for when our founders drafted it?

When their service is done they are allowed to keep them. If for some reason they are unfit for service, or discharged for other reasons than completing their term than yeah they have to turn it in. That removes the weapon from the ones that are unfit to own them, because they have PROVEN themselves to be unfit already.

The point being here, do you see the swiss shooting each other JUST because they are so well armed? No, and that doesn't happen here in the USA either.

oh please if you are going to name a country don't use one that has ALL men over the age of 18 as members of the military, Switzerland has conscription and as such allows its members to take their arms home but if they resign from the military they must surrender their guns as they are only for national defence.

No one goes and says they are using their gun offensively. It is always a defensive role. Someone attacks you, your property or your rights, you use the gun defensively to stop the attack.

Only during invasions, and attacks by criminals is it an offensive role.

Two very different purposes. What you want to stop is the offensive use, which gun owners want to stop as well. Restricting what we can own does not accomplish that. Education, awareness, planning, and proper security does.

A foe that doesn't exist? Say that to the people that got shot because they couldn't defend themselves.

Aggression feeding more aggression is a myth, made worse by the media. Look at Switzerland where every citizen is armed.

No what we lack here in the USA is proper education, and awareness of the world. Too often is the solution to just take a pill, or have someone else take care of the problem.

A gun owner uses their gun for defense, not offense. Martial arts teaches this, as do morals.

If the teacher is a conceal carry owner and wants to carry I see no issue there. She/He takes that responsibility every day they carry anywhere else. Also the training that police get is usually surprisingly very little, only enough to qualify and they don't get encouraged to get more. Only swat teams train constantly and have such a high level of training. Most conceal carry holders get more range time than average officers do

If the teacher wants to carry & has a permit they should be allowed

you really do not see the difference between a school resource officer and an armed teacher or an armed posse of volunteers?

besides needing constant training to not only keep an effect level of ability with the firearm itself, you need just as much if not more training to recognize and adequately deal with a threat when it occurs. even police officers have trouble in high stress situations, which is what they not only train for but deal with everyday.

a teacher CAN NOT do that and teach.

and here is the problem, a gun by its very nature is an offensive weapon designed to kill, aggression feeds aggression, when you keep arming people it creates a vicious circle of violence and fear, the US is the only western nation where its school are as guarded as prisons are, hell in my country the idea of metal detectors and armed guards at a school is so alien to us it begs the question does the US really need guns to protect itself against a foe that doesn't actually exist.

They never said militarization of schools or how to arm them.

Allowing teachers to carry if they want should be allowed. Further already before this happened many schools had armed police officers, often called "School resource officers".

What is the issue you see about armed police in schools? It provides protection, and with the drugs and abuse in schools already it's almost needed.
