@Emokid84 yes it releases more flavor if you tear it, when you eat it fresh but if you cook it than it doesn't matter.

@Emokid84 I live in America, and I've heard of that. I don't understand why we decided to drop the H; it really doesn't make sense...

@TheMelBauer i'm ENGLISH and english is my native tongue, and the H in herbs should be pronounced, or at least it is in england.
sorry not trying to be an ass, just pointing out that in england the h is pronounced. i know in american english its different though. it really is like two different languages :P

Damn, thats a stupid way to chop basil.. You should roll the leaves together and then start start cutting. You get much more equal sizes, and its easier to hold on to.
You guys are being very rude. The H in herbs is silent. I guess everyone says it different but yes it is supposed to sound like "erbs". Im an american, english is my native tongue.

Language evolves and mutates. It has nothing to do with arrogance, though you are being a prick about it. And I'm Canadian and pronounce it "herb". Brits pronounce aluminum "aluminium" and no one gets on their ass. Prick...
