    1) For Oval Racing, make all drivers pass on the outside. No inside passing. If you are not passing, then you must stay in your inner lane that is painted on the track. PAINT 3 LANES ON EVERY OVAL, like the ones human athletes run on at the Olympics.

Any driver who moves one tire into an outer lane without trying to pass another car is automatically called for BLOCKING. These painted lanes and rules will allow for the most opportunties to pass.

    2) For Road Racing, PAINT 2 LANES GOING INTO AND OUT OF EVERY TURN. You must pass on the outer lane only. If you are not passing, then you must stay in your inner lane. If any of your tires cross the line into the outer lane, then you are automatically called for BLOCKING. So, the driver must SLOW DOWN if needed to stay in his lane.

This eliminates one driver from taking up the entire width of the track going into a turn and prevent passing.

    3) For Street courses , some city governments might have a problem with painting lanes. So, here you make 2 (or even, 3) alternative half-mile paths (or FORKS) in the course, so that drivers must choose one particular path for each lap. These alternate paths eventually join back together.

What this does is split up the traffic and allow for at least, some overtaking.

  • @chiefsittingbull2 The events are boring now BECAUSE there is no ACTION. How can seeing a few easy overtakes be more exciting than seeing a few hard fought overtakes? What's more exciting, catching 100 goldfish, or catching 1 great white shark?

  • @3338MAN Your comments to berkeyka are quite interesting. I don't rule out the possibility of "scammed contrivances" or fixing races. With a sport (Champ Car & IRL) that has been constantly losing advertising dollars and audiences over the past few years, that is quite possible. After all, professional wrestling has done very well over the decades by fixing or staging their fights.

  • berkeyka, seriously, you're a sphincter probe. This is a serious rumor, and I say rumor because I cannot substantiate the IRL mole. But I can substantiate the reporter, my friend, and he has stated the IRL has scammed contrivances since 2005. As for Penske and championships, Roger has been in on these since Danica's win at Motegi, maybe before that. His payoff is higher horsepower Honda's and a wink and and a nod on development issues. You are all naieve fans. The IRL is a sham. A fake.

  • @3338MAN Seriously, you're a moron.

  • @3338MAN That's highly unlikely. Penske would never sacifice the Championship.

By finishing 2nd instead of 1st, Will Power got -10 points.

By finishing 1st instead of 3rd, Scott Dixon got +15 points (net +25 over Will Power).

By finishing 3rd instead of 4th, Dario Franchitti got +3 (net +13 over Will Power.)

Considering how the Championship has come down to the final race the past several seasons. that should be enough points to cost Will Power the overall 2010 Championship.

  • NOW HEAR THIS!!!!! Rumor, serious rumor, that the whole thing was a planned fake. Seriously! There is an investigative reporter from a major newspaper putting together a story on the IRL in an attempt to reveal the financials over the histroy of the league. This reporter has a mole at the IRL. That mole said this whole "blocking" thing was a set-up and they knew Helio had the "acting" tools to pull it off. This was a contrivance to steal headlines from the Brickyard 400. That was the IRL plan.

  • So, as you see, drivers and team owners had over a year to complain, but they didn't. Instead Barnhart, reminded drivers of the rule at every driver's meeting for over a year.

Remember, it wasn't long ago that Graham Rahal was called for blocking Dario Franchitti, who was going to pass him on the inside going into a turn in the 2010 Indy 500. Otherwise, Graham would have been on the podium for that race, as the drive-thru penalty cost Graham about a lap and he finished on the lead lap.
