Earl Bostic and his orchestra. Blue Mitchell (tp) Earl Bostic (as) Ray Felder (ts) Gene Redd (vib) Joe Knight (p) Mickey Baker (g) Ike Isaacs (b) George Brown (d). Recorded in New York, December 17, 1952. Initially released on King 4623 on both 45 and 78 RPM. The recording here is dubbed from the Canadian pressing but it is still take 1 just like all the others. A favorite Bostic of the classic Ray Noble tune. Hope you enjoy it.

  • That three minutes should be enough rhythmic and harmonic variations to keep most alto players busy for months.

Love the part about half way through where he repeats the same phrase, but dropping a semi-tone each time!

Steam Whistle Jump has recently been posted too. Check it out.

    Thanks for this Gary
