I heard this was sold to a local school for $1.00 in the 80's - anyways, I'm in the market for one of these, any good suggestions.

It's great to see a Plattsburg silo with out any water in it. I visited #7 in Sugarbush back in the early 80's. The owner was very gracious as a tour guide. His silo had water in it, and one of the doors was ajar and would not close all the way.He spoke of a salvage job where he had hired a crew unfortunatly it had went awry as 40mm UXO was scattered all over the silo and apparently one had exploded.Sad to say that is one expensive hole in the ground, but facinates me even today.Excellent video

if you buy one unrefurbished then youre lookin at some serious time investment in refurbishing it, but sum are nuke proof so its perfect for a hermit

man you are awesome as shit just because you own a missile silo! 1 question: what is that huge thing at the beginning of the video that says "WILL RELEASE 400 TONS OF SAND"?
Make sure you visit one. You'll get a good idea what your getting into.

launch control center, LCC,is a concrete bunker 44 ft. in diameter. Suporting the top is a concrete pillar. from the ceiling there is an escape tube which was filled with sand. a cable from the pillar could be pulled to open a hatch at the end ot the tube which would release 4 tons of sand so the crew could escape,
