@chloeindigo I would say that it would have more to do with culture then really the idea itself Australia is much more laid back the i think America ever would be you have a whole month off when December rolls around (at least thats what the grapevine tells me) and as for me comparing gun control to communism i was stating that like communism it only works on paper. not saying it was socialistic or anything like that.

@cobaltjones She does inspire me, not because she's a drop of E on a saturday night but because she writes powerful songs and writes them from her heart. That's refreshing and not many people actually do, certainly not people who are this successful. And she has happy songs, but yes, she tends to write about what she's passionate about. As do I when I write poetry - it's rarely peaches n cream. If you want happy check out her new stuff. And so what if she reacts to the world around her in music?

@cinsin69 shit yeah.

@spenserL24601 Come to Australia and tell me America has the only possible level of gun control that will work. It isn't just on paper dude, other countries are doing it. There has been two school shootings ever in Australia, both at universities, with a combined death-toll of 3 people. Most gun related deaths here are suicides. And the total gun related deaths that do occur are a fraction of what they are in America. Just sayin..
It doesn't only work on paper. And don't tell me it's communism.

I love the end of this song. The cycle of retaliation has to end somewhere, let it be with us.

I didn't like Miss Difranco when I first started to be exposed to her... But as become more and more poor after graduating college, I grow more and more respect.

@somanymovies11 the problem of gun control is it takes the guns away from the good guys I wish it would work its beautiful on paper but in actual practice its like communism it never works it just stops the suicidle from getting anywhere to fast and so they jump

Ani's songs convey a musical picture..a snapshot of a perspective. The perspective may not match that of everyone who listens, but the powerful imagery, and firm grasp on what Americans REALLY have in common, beneath what is considered 'marketable', make her an amazingly effective communicator. I get the sense she sings about what she truly feels far more than many other artists, who are often seemingly busy considering only what will sell..

broker010...uummm ok, let's say Ani is "politically" ignorant (whatever that means)....so, that makes you....? I mean how "politically" ignorant must you be to listen to such an ignorant artist?
I think everyone should take Ani's advice: "should any part of my music offend you, please do not close your ears to it. just take what you can use and go on"
