This video shows a cold start of my MEP-006a 60kW turbodiesel generator. This set doesn't use glow plugs or a manifold heater, so it takes a little bit of cranking to get it to fire. Once it hits on a few cylinders, it takes right off!

  • MEP-006s were good generators. What people don't understand is that the duty cycle on the starters is 30 seconds on, 60 seconds off. The 806 60kW gensets that replaced these are real nice. No more adjusting the throttle every time a load is applied or removed. They have 6068 John Deere engines. Good vid!

  • nice truck what Make is it

  • That's a ridiculous crank! Why didn't it have glow plugs? They would have helped so much =)
