Huge NYC hit in early `61. Was played WABC, WINS, WMCA & WMGM. A friend of mine went to school with Frank Gari ( Garafolo) at Paramus High School in NJ

yes, bigvoice 313 is correct. Frank Gari is best known for his TV news themes. if you've ever watched American TV news, chances are you have heard his compositions at the beginning of or during the TV newscast. you can probably hear some of them by googling frank gari tv news themes. Frank's songs like 'Utopia' and 'Princess' were fantastic and should have been much much bigger hits. but I'm happy for him that he succeeded as America's most prolific TV news theme composer.

I hope this sound lasts forever.

Amazing, I heard this song twice while visiting New Jersey in 1960, (no one in Ga knew what song I was talking about) and it never went completely away, amazing!

Oldie addict. They tried to send me to rehab...but it didn't work. Damn you Frank G and your kind...you have made my life a living paradise...I mean pleasure...I mean a joy to reflect on great childhood memories....you win...I hate you for thumping at my heart strings...I will hate you for a half-millisecond for what you have done to shape me into the loving person I am.

I never thought there was a "UTOPIA" until I heard this lovely song, so lovely. Unmatched by anything I have ever heard. So exciting, so ecstatic!!!!

This was one that I remember from American Bandstand and I haven't heard it since 1962 or so. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for posting "Utopia"; haven't heard this in eons. Frank had a few hits in the Top-40 back then, but this is the one I remember most. By 1964 I think he was with The Beachcombers who released "This is My Love", a non-charting 45.
