Old Cajun tune, recorded a long time ago by the Segura Brothers.
Second effort, with some extras and a bit closer to the original, but, alas, still without "tit fer".

  • I don't have a clue!

The only thing I know is that this tune is not a scottische either. I have heard a lot of scottisches in France, and they have a totally different rhythm. This Cajun "polka"has the same rhythm as a Cajun blues, but a different kind of melody. It's just a name. Cajun mazurkas are also completely differnet from "real"mazurkas. But, who cares?

  • wow this is neet, Im from New Iberia Louisiana, I know some Segura families, I work with a few Segura guys, I wonder if they are relation to the Segura brothers :-)

sounds great keep up the good work, by the way, how did you learn to play so well, I would love to get a squeeze box and learn but Im afraid its too hard and I dont have anyone to show me :-(

  • There MUST be someone in LA to show you!!

  • Hey, Peer! Enjoyed this! I forgot about this tune! I love these old polkas/schottiches. Hardly anyone around here plays them anymore. Glad you also enjoyed my vids. Keep pullin'!

  • hey peer! I read somewhere that cajun polkas aren't "really" polkas, but that is more like a scottish. From what I read, "scottish" was introduced in england and france under the name of "german polkas". But, the french and german relationships weren't very good, so french renamed this "german polka" as a scottish. From my idea, the cajuns could have kept the name polka for scottish, maybe because cajuns have had many contact with germans in Louisiana.do you know something about that?

  • really close from what I heard from segura brothers' record...congrats, I absolutly have to learn this one! do you know others old cajun tunes like this, I mean mazurkas, polkas, reels, gigs...'cause I only know about 4 old tune like that (only the ones which have been recorded and "everybody knows" in fact and I'd love to play many old cajun tunes like this!

  • Very nice sound you produce on the Cajun accordion. Wonderful.

  • Well Im sure there is someone, but Im sort of a self learner, I have played various other instruments in my time and learned how to play them myself. I dont know anyone personally and I dont like the idea of going out and find a stranger to teach me. Im just werd like that I guess :-/
