i wonder what an fm e.piano would sound like

Hi thanks for posting this.
Inspiring!
I'm just starting to learn about FM synthesis with my doepfer.
I only have a few modules so far though, but I wondered if you could briefly describe the patch...?

pretty grimey bro~

Awesome vid! I've been searching for a video that decently demonstrates the doepfer modular gear for 2 days. This one rocks! Cheers

@albedoshader: All synth manufacturers need to make money. And they produce what the buyers want. If they want run of the mill products just to be able to repeat all the boring stuff they know from listening to MTV or whatnot Yamaha et al. will be happy to sell them this crap for huge money.
-
@mutantmoments: That's nonsense. The VP1 or the VL synths were excellent instruments. The problem is you need to be able to play them like real instruments instead of just plugging some chords or turning a few knobs.
90% of the synth community is barely able to play a simple scale in c major.
No offense meant but watching the videos here on youtube is proof enough to me. Try to find good (not to speak of "innovative") musicians or good sound programmers/designers here.

@mutantmoments: I beg to differ. Analog synths were out of fashion long before. And the Prophecy is far from being a sucker - quite the opposite. And a lot better than many rather crappy analog synthesizers.
-
And as for the Prophecy, dear god, it sucked, big time, the start of the end for analogue.
I can't really remember the patch itself, but essentially I was using the A-110 sine output into the A111 linear FM input, then filtering. Most of the modulation changes that you can here in the video are adjusting the depth modulation at the A111 linear fm input, the frequency of the modulator, or the frequency of the filter.

Cool, glad it was helpful. Check out the rest of mine, there are plenty of doepfer vids in there.
