Well, when it comes to the 'vote botting' issue, I suspected that it was a group (forget their name, but I did a vid on them) who went around promcing to help with people's views and ratings. For money, I presume. And I think, if you refused, they went around ranking down your vids.

I have contacted Youtube before and have NEVER received a reply. They just don't. I have heard that many times...

I wonder if the issues you had were a result of hackers and not due to Youtube at all. What would be their motivation? I am just wondering. That seems likely...what do you think?

Videos of these channels are often taken down for "violations." Youtube never explains the reasons, only that they were reported and taken down. Yioutube says that they review every video themselves before taking them down (so just because a vid is reported doesn't mean it will be taken down.) Very obvious censorship there.

This only seems to happen to controversial channels. There are other points as well. Some channels (like mine) were attacked a while back (the so-called votebot attacks.) Without any more views appearing on my vid, in one night I got between 20-40 one-star ratings per video. I had videos with like 42 ratings and only 20 views! I contacted YouTube and they never got back to me. I contacted three times, actually. They either don't care or were behind it themselves.

I don't know how China censorship might be effecting YouTube for the rest of us, but I do know they were using censorship before that happened (unless I have the timeline wrong.) There's a lot say to this, but in short: channels that got thousands of views per vid all of a sudden were only gettting hundreds, and from seven hundred to a couple, etc. Yet, the amount of ratings would remain the same. Doesn't add it does it? Then the ratings started going down, and now comments are disappearing...

It is deplorable and Americans should be outraged...but most people don't even realize it. So sad and depressing really...

I do know that China has completely blocked Youtube since March 2009. I used to get ~half of all my hits from China and now I get none. Google has been working with the Chinese government on censoring programs (along with Cysco systems and other US based corps) which makes me very angry, but I have never had a video of mine removed. I am just not sure??? I do not think US Corporations should assist the Chinese Communist Party in their evil mind control of their people.

I hear claims of censorship by all different kinds of people on Youtube, but I'm not sure...I think maybe glitches are more likely because why would they censor people and just exactly what is Youtube's agenda? I think it is advertising! I am not discounting the idea outright, but I don't see a pattern or motivation. Do you? I mean I have my share of controversy and I have never been censored...just had little glitchy things happen...so I have to wonder about such conspiracy theories.

Maybe. But they do practice censorship too. They hide how many views controversial videos get, how many ratings, and maybe now how many views? I've noticed this over the period that I've been here.

Youtube has quirky times where it messes up more than other times, perhaps it is when there is high traffic??? I don't know?
