My friend and team member Greg is putting on a bench shirt with my help. If done properly it only takes one person to help put it on. The first shirt was too small and then he wore another. If used properly the bench shirt can give you more support and a bigger bench. Not everyone benefits from a bench shirt though. I only improved mine by 25 to 40 pounds. I have been to over 100 meets and have competed in about 200 myself.

  • Blue shirt needs to have the back of the collar closer to the back of the neck and than the slack needs to be removed from the front and locked in with your belt. Your partner should not be pulling down on the back of the shirt

Also you are benching with your elbows very flared and grooving very high on your chest. Concentrate on tucking your elbows and lowering the bar path it will decrease the tension on your should tendons

  • if the first weight you use can touch your chest the shirt it too loose or you didn't warm up enough. In this case, too loose

  • Different organisations have different requirements some insist on a vest beneath a bench shirt, while other organisations are completely against that idea

  • vest. lol

  • Looked loose on that last one

  • shirt looked really loose

  • Why has that knucklehead got his T-shirt on under the bench shirt? That's illegal.

  • well just so you know bench shirts can add alot more than 25 to 40 lbs I get around 150 to 200 lbs out of a single ply and around 250 to 300 in a 2 ply
