  • 160 Volts Ac or DC? A variac Produces a true sine wave through a transformer. Note: the higher the voltage the lower the Max current will be. Any other way of manipulating The Wall 120Vac would just chop up the sine wave or make it Pulsed DC.

  • Nice demonstration man, I wondering if it would be possible to build a pwm to do 160 volts and 25 amps? I am trying to figure out a way to have a controller instead of paying 200 bucks for a variac...
