I am pretty sure he aimed at the bear, but missed... in a life-threatening situation like that, as a human you would not hesitate to do anything to save your own life... so merely 'scaring' the bear would not be good enough (in that split-second of irrationality that is!)

Glad to see someone else gets it. Any human that believes it is ok for an animal to kill a human has fallen from a rational thinking human to an animal no better than the one that has killed a human. There is nothing ethical about a human cheering on an animal killing a human. PETA is not about animals it is an agenda, sadly most are too stupid to see.

PETA is sadly just a Marxist organization that seeks to make people divided, so they can be conquered more easily. No sane person, unless they have been extremely propagandized (like PETA members), would advocate a bear killing a human being. Read the roots of PETA and the Marxist author who inspired their movement, and you'll understand their nutty views better.

This is why humans and bears cannot coexist. That could have been a boat carrying anybody, including a family, and they all would have been dead because of that bear, even though people were just floating down a river. This also demonstrates why a gun is superior protection. Just the gun blast alone will end most encounters. Bear Spray doesn't work if it's windy, so guns are the most reliable under any circumstances.
