On Thursday 3rd March, 35 police officers carried out a raid at shops in North London in connection with suspected criminal activity involving electricity prepayment meters.
Criminals have so far made over £7million out of electricity customers in a nationwide fraud which has cost the industry many times more than this. More than 120,000 customers have been affected to date, but the number could increase further. There are over 3.7 million prepayment meter customers across Britain.
