Jersey is my 2 year old Border Collie that has been training since February 2008 and competing in tournaments since the end of May 2009.
She is a shy girl. Her best time is a 4.4s run, but averages about 4.6s now. I believe she has it in her to run faster, but there is an issue. On her way down to the box, she is a lot slower than when she returns. She always runs back top speed. One big mistake I made, I believe, in her training was when we practiced box work at home, no one was on the box. It was up against a wall. I assumed this made her run slower, as now there is a big, mean person towering over the box. She has also always been quite submissive to people.
At our last tournament, someone from another team came up to me and said it looks like she herding the ball at the box, not fearful.
Another thing I have noticed is her body language. When she runs down to the box, her tail is up in the air. When she returns, her tail is down, as if she is more "serious".
I am putting this video up here for someone to make their judgments and let me know what they think. I don't care if she is never a sub-4 dog, but I want her to run the best she can.
