My family migrated to Zambia in 1963 from Scotland we lived in Chingola until 1973 I loved living in Chingolabest yrs of my life ..swimming in the mine pool every day going to the bi scope (cinema ) every saturday We lived in a mine house on 7th st and we had lots of friends (african and white ) whos dads worked in the mine like ours All the mine houses looked the same with lots of mango trees avocado trees paw paw ,banana, guava etc it was PARADISE
Thank you for this video. I had a nice time in Zambia and only saw part of Chingola, mostly a small village area. I wish most American teens could spend 2 weeks in an African country to realize many of us have life easier - but also how clever Zambians are of selling whatever they can to help their families.
I should also add that Brian David McLead Brown went to live in Chingola, Zambia from Edinburgh, Scotland. My mum and I left Chingola in 1979 and came to Edinburgh where we have lived since. the other friends we left behind we brother and sister Paul, Darren and Cheryl Fraser who's dad was called Ron Fraser they originally came from south Africa. When we came back from Zambia I remember I had the accent now its a Scottish accent. I remember the cricket club, and copper mines.
I used to live in Chingola, Zambia for 9 years from 1972 to 1979 my dad Brian David McLeod Brown worked in the cooper mines I have good and bad memories of Chingola but I do from time to time think about the people I left behind my dad remarried and had a son James (I think was his name) James Brown my dad Brian died in Ndola in 1990 a victim of AIDS if james is reading this get in contact I think he lives in Chingola or Ndola, Zambia My step brother Jamie or James.
