Urban Youth Dressed as Ninja Fatally Stabs Daughter & Dad in Foster Care

William Gary Simpson (19) dressed up like a ninja and stabbed Saskia Burke (18) to death MURRIETA, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police are searching for a suspect who stabbed three people -- one fatally -- at a home in Murrieta.

It happened just before 4 a.m. Tuesday at a house 40000 block of Milkwood Lane. Police say William Gary Simpson Jr., 19, somehow gained access to the home dressed in a ninja outfit, went upstairs and stabbed 18-year-old Saskia Burke to death. Her father, Paul Burke, and her 17-year-old boyfriend, who has not been named, rushed into help her and were stabbed as well. Saskia Burke died at the scene from her wounds. Her mother, Catherine Burke, was devastated Tuesday as she struggled to speak through tears to KTLA. "(Saskia) died in pain," Catherine Burke said. "She died screaming for us to help her. And by the time we got there, he had already murdered her." Paramedics took Paul Burke and the 17-year-old boy to a nearby hospital where they both underwent emergency surgery. Simpson is still at large, and police say he is their only suspect in the deadly stabbing. Police say a knife was recovered at the scene. "I want (police) to find him and shoot him," Catherine Burke said. Neighbors say Simpson was one of several foster children who used to live at the house. Sometime last year, the family asked Simpson to leave for an unknown reason, according to police. "I don't understand," Catherine Burke said. "We always took kids in. We always had kids here... We were just the kind of family that kids came to." Simpson is 6 feet 3 inches, 140 pounds and according to police, he was last seen running from the scene on foot. "I'm sorry when I took the knife away last night that I didn't kill him with it," Catherine Burke said.

The dad Paul was stabbed in the chest and neck and is in the hospital and Connor is in serious condition because he sustained a severed artery in his neck.

Evidently Simpson was kicked out of his moms house and the Burkes let him and two other boys stay for free until they got jobs and could pay rent. Simpson was offered a job at a video game store but turned it down becaues he thought it wasnt fair he would be paying and the others werent. So he left to go live with his dad.

She said the family didn't have any contact with Simpson from last year until 4 a.m. Tuesday, when police said he entered the two-story home. The family had finished watching a movie around 10:45 p.m., and Catherine Burke said she went to her bedroom with her 13-year-old daughter, Kessa, who wanted to watch "Marley & Me."

Catherine Burke said she was awoken by her daughter's screaming. She ran downstairs and heard her husband screaming "You killed her! You killed her! ... I'm going to kill you!"

She said she saw her husband and Connor, who came to the house after his shift at a movie theater, fighting with the assailant on a long table. The table broke and the trio spilled into the hallway, she said.

Catherine Burke said she then noticed Saskia lying on the floor. She wrested the knife away from the attacker before running outside and throwing the weapon in the driveway, she said.

She screamed to a neighbor, who was outside, to call for help as she ran back in. She said she saw Paul Burke covered in blood and trying to hold on to the attacker's bag as the suspect stabbed Connor.

She said Paul Burke pinned the attacker to the couch as she put something on Connor's wound and told him to put pressure on it. She said she saw the attacker was Simpson "and he was smiling. It was the same arrogant smile he gave when (he turned down) his job because he wasn't going to pay like everybody else."

She said she picked up a black metal post and began hitting Simpson with it. She said she thought Simpson would kill her before her neighbors raced in. Simpson ran out the back door, Catherine Burke said.

"I can't stop hearing (Saskia) scream," said Catherine Burke, her voice cracking through tears. "I can't."

It is BECAUSE she is devastated she is shaky, and she gave the news report BECAUSE she knew the killer. It's only logical to tell the world who did it to keep an eye out for who killed Saskia.
