  • REALLY epic laugh, Y/Y?

Both laughs are awesome, but this is golden! Oh, this scene! <3

  • I wish I lived in Japan, they get Japan exclusive tracks on their CDs, unedited games and smoking hot japanese women :(

This was censored in the U.S. version. The version you're seeing here is the original Japanese version, in which he cuts his arm and head off with a knife. It is "censored" in the U.S. version. I put "censored" in quotation marks because, in my opinion, the thing they did to censor it makes it even MORE violent. Rather than using a knife, it was "censored" so that he FREAKING RIPS OFF HIS OWN HEAD WITH HIS ARMS.

  • This scene wasn't heavily censored on the US version except that instead of using a knife he just rips off his arm and head...

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu this was not actually censored... was it?

  • @MistressRemilia

Actually PLENTY of them were, including me. The series was always targeted at teens and that's the demographic it was most popular with. It would have been a bad marketing move to restrict it to 17 and older.

  • @TheGravitationist I don't think that the xenosaga fans were under 17....

  • @MistressRemilia

Yes it would. If it were rated M that would mean that no one under 17 could walk into a store and buy it. Therefore, less sales.

  • @TheGravitationist I doubt about it.... -_-

  • I can't decide if he's more or less crazy in the Japanese version.

I mean, ripping off your arm and head versus slicing them off with a pocket knife?

They both have their own flair of "Holy shit, this guy is terrifying."

Somehow, despite the fact that ripping them off sounds more crazy, I have to give the win to slicing them off with a pocketknife.

The scene wasn't removed, but certain parts of it were edited out, like the blood. A lot of little stuff like that had to be cut so it could get a T rating because an M rating would equal less sales.
