This brief film traces three generations of Black rabbis leading their congregations to rivers in New York City for observance of their Tashlich service at Rosh Hashanah. It shows the marching and the traditional blowing of the Shofar for Yom Terruah.
The congregations are Commandment Keepers, led by Chief Rabbi W.A. Matthew; Beth Shalom led by Chief Rabbi Levi Ben Levy, and Beth Elohim led by Rabbi Sholomo Levy. All of these congregations are affiliated with the Israelite Board of Rabbis.
