sorry you young guys, but 47 yrs ago bob hayes ran 10.05 on a loose dirt(yes DIRT) track in tokyo. he then ran an 8.6 anchor leg(which is STILL) the fastest leg of a 4X100 relay. in prelim he clicked off a 9.91(wind just over legal)but again consider it was on DIRT. he was only 21 too. and hiss 100 time WAS electronic(SEIKO had it electronically hooked up to the startes pistol so the second it went off timing began,i want to see what bolt and powell run on a loose dirt track !!!

-
Linford Christie would beat Asafa Powell even if he had a 20m head start!
-
Where can I buy that damn suit, like the one Asafa is wearing?
-
@43aaronlewis lol he didnt slow down in lausanne
-
@MarxMuru i think he can run 9.6 for sure he run 9.72 slowing down
-
fuck i was at that race
-
yeah should have seen his face during the Olympics he looked kind of stressed out he definitely could have gotten the silver easy. This time is better then who ever got silver in 2008.

1.From a long time many people knew that Tyson Gay (regardless of bolt) may eventually overcome Powell's personal best, and it did, of course.
It was a matter of time, especially for a sprinter who specializes in not only 100 meters (something that takes away opportunity and greater preparation i 100m, unlike Powell)
2. This race was in Lausanne two weeks after the Olympics and who held the record before the Olympics was Bolt, NOT Powell.

@torrepr I wasn't speaking of Gay's consistency, but rather that of Asafa, as he is my concern. If you look at Asafa's qualifying runs you see the potential not to mention the fact that he was already at world record time coming into Beijing..??
-
@RyMuEntertainment ..agreed. he should have gay's measure but just ties up when someones nex tto him..or in front...
-
@AntiVaccine, what are you talking about.....?
-
@phastman99 LOL
-
@RyMuEntertainment 58 races under 10 scds and he has no consistency, it seems a very contradictory statement of your part.
BTW, 2009 was a banner year for Tyson that he was able to demonstrate significant progress which took him to defeat Powell 6 to1. Asafa is a quintessential accelerator but Tyson's top-speed is very much better than him. So for Powell could crack Gay, he has to make a 1st 60 meters more than perfect, because otherwise, Gay will always going to catch him before the finish.
i think that Asafa has the insane potential to run very fast times.unfortunately cracks under pressure.
he could run under 9.70 for sure.

This dude has great potential...I know he can crack Gay..If he'd just focus and hold it together he'd be more consistent.
