Thanks, I'm embarrassed about the sound though, we used the mic on the videocam for this before we knew what we were doing!

Yes, this was one of the first videos we did, knowing nothing about it and using the microphone built in to the camera... Our latest vids are HD and sound is much better, recorded separately on a Zoom H2. Check out our video list and take a look at the latest! Thanks...

The horizontal lines look like artifacts from an interlaced movie. You should apply a deinterlace method on editing step or shoot the movies in progressive mode. Sorry for this late reply though.... maybe you know it by now.
Great reviews as always, thanks!
The closest retailer to me is pretty far off, in your experience, is there another brand/line/model that has sizes running equal to this helmet? My best option so far is buying over the internet but I'm having a tough time getting my hands on them to fit to my head.

@SledgeMakeGood I believe the R1 has been out of production for some time. webBikeWorld has over 160 detailed helmet reviews and a Helmet Shapes page that lists helmets by their internal shape. First determine your head shape and then read the reviews appropriate for that shape.

it may look cool and it may be quiet but it's not safe. here's a safety rating made by the british gov: sharp.direct.gov.uk/testsratings/schuberth-r1

@keldorn It meets ECE 22.05 standards though; the SHARP test is an unofficial test, like Snell. Just saying...

@wbwvids yes, it meets the standards but it still offers less protection than other cheaper helmets. it's like comparing a volvo to a car that only has 2 seatbelts. both meet the standards but still...

@keldorn Helmet testing and safety is pretty complicated, there are many factors to consider and there is some controversy still over the SHARP tests. Unfortunately, SHARP doesn't provide enough detailed information to determine exactly why one helmet scores well and another doesn't. Read the webBikeWorld article on DOT vs. ECE helmet safety standards for more info.
