I heard or read somewhere that Peter Brock actually gave him a lift from the crash site back the pits. They don't make them like PB anymore that's for sure.

@HLjoker Correct. i have big 83 bathurst book (released 84) and photo of PB picking DJ up. DJ states remembers none of it....

No they did not rebuild THIS car overnight... Ross Palmer purchased a Falcon XE from one of the privateer teams at Bathurst that weekend; who in turn - ran a Commodore next day with Ford signage all over it...! The engine that came out of the crashed car was not affected at all, in fact that engine and drive train was used again at Bathurst in 1984.

Is it me or is anyone else bored with V8 supercars........as THE BOSS says the glory days were 1969 to 1990.

they rebuilt this car overnight, the paint was still wet when it was sitting on the grid the next morning, unreal.

champion effort - teh rebuild involved transferring motor, drive train and brakes and repaint of donor vehicle. Disagrred then - and do now - you have one car and one only - no car hopping allowed.
