Here are our two new sugar gliders, Hiccup and Astrid. This was taken on our second day bonding. The male, Hiccup, is the one making all the fuss.

  • Is he still cold toward you? I am interested in adopting, but I want to be sure that they will eventually be confortable around me

  • @jcolsonsmith We ended up re-adopting them to a home that had more time. The female bonded fine, and the male was OK around us. But these little guys take SOO much time. Feeding, socializing, cleaning up after. Really put a lot of thought into it before you adopt.

  • Hi, i just got a pair (female and male) yesterday and i was very surprised the male kept making that annoyed sound. the female is less aggressive but this morning when i wanted to touch her, she kinda wanna bite my finger. any help on how to start bonding n touch them? without getting bitten??

  • @19utube10 Just spend time with them. Fear will keep the bond from happening, it will take an effort on your part and the gliders. Just give it time, it will happen. They will learn that you're the one that feeds them and keeps them safe. Good luck!

  • one thing i did to make the bonding proses go faster was go in to the bathroom and close the potty seat lol and make sure you baby proof it and they can not fit down the darn and let them come to you when they are ready

  • @lukehollifield24

That's pretty much exactly what we did :) Our male still hasn't warmed up to us, but the female is very friendly.

  • Sugar gliders crack me up. All the videos of them crabbing is of people waking them up. lol. I should get one for my boyfriend. They can crab together when I get them out of bed.

  • Huh? Sugar Glider Joey is evolving. The Sugar Glider Joey has evolved into Sugar Glider!

  • Male sugar gliders only bond with you if you have 2 males. When you have a male and a female, the male is very protective of the female. I've had my gliders for about 2 1/2 years, the female and her baby girl love me, but the male just tolerates me. He doesn't bite me or crab at me but he has very little interest in me unless I am giving him a treat.

  • that little thing is awesome it is so cute i wants one!!! plus look at my name

  • @jcolsonsmith The mistake these people (and many other sugar glider owners) make is that they act afraid of them when they act crazy or get defensive. They flinch, probably give up on touching them when they don't act right, and it gives the glider the impression that it's intimidating. So, raising them is a lot easier when the owner just stands his ground and doesn't flinch all the time. They act better in the end

  • hiccup and astrid? just like in how to train your dragon :D

  • Oh holy heck! Don't just poke him with your finger! That's inviting a bite. Give them time and they will come around, and bond slowly with them. Soon enough, they will be all over you.

  • Looks like it was very healthy but pretty crabby for the second day. Where'd you get them?

  • Love the How To Train Your Dragon names :)
