The Canadian Tar Sands is the world's largest, and dirtiest, energy project. Dirty oil sands crude generates as much as five times greenhouse gas as conventional oil. Yet, unless steps are taken by the U.S. and Canada, both countries will become irrevocably addicted to the dirtiest oil on earth. Totally lame.

And Hydrocarbons are not created you stupid ass. They are FORMED from fossils decomposed over millions of years. Which are formed due to the high pressure created by rock formations due to the many layers which are persistent under the earth's formation. Go research before you critic. The tar sands are terrible from a climate perspective, and thats talking with an engineering background. Also the gulf of mexico slick is an oil disaster, and that has been recognized. The problem is that the tar sands are an ongoing project.

Regardless, it doesnt matter which is worse, in the end they are both terrible and discrediting one does not mean the other should be ignored.
