@lagoamemo I got into Steely Dan in 1972 with their 1st album 'Can't Buy A Thrill'. Over the years my musical tendancies moved toward hard rock or progrssive rock. Steely Dan is the one band that all my friends (no matter what their musical tastes) can agree on. I'd have to say Aja & Gaucho are my favs but I can slip any 'Dan' album on and simply let it go... 'You Go Where I Go' is very good and you can hear how Donald & Walter were at their beginning... leading to all their other works ;-)

Thanks for this nugget. Yes, that's Fagen's voice alright, devoid of the processing that would later make it very recognizable.

@bookcartpeddlerny My bad! I confused it with an early work they did for a Richard Pryor movie (which freeakin rocked!!!).
lagoamemo has some of the tracks on his channel if you haven't already listened to them :-0)

@brassmanla It was an vinyl LP I bought years ago. It included a lot of their songs that didn't make it on to their albums. A lot of experimental songs,(so to speak ) from their practice sessions and early years.I didn't hear that it was from a soundtrack. Could be.... That would have been an awesome soundtrack! Hey, thanks guy, take care.
I have a copy of the CD and it is named 'You Go Where I Go'... 13 early tracks recorded in various places and times before they actually became Steely Dan. 13 songs that have the difinitive Fagan / Becker sound in it's infancy. Good Stuff!

@ everyone This cut I believe (if my memory is correct) is off the Sun Mountain CD. A rare and excellent collection of their songs (played by Fagan & Becker) before they got signed and produced. If my memory serves me, there's about 20 songs that eventually became big hits and barely sound like Dan at all :-0) The whole CD is a wonderful look inside their heads. I wish I still had mine :-0/

@brassmanla , your memory is correct! The CD apears with diferent names around the wolrd. Here in Brazil where I got mine the name was "Fouders of Steely Dan".

@lagoamemo Wow! I did not know that :-0) Thanks, my CD was stolen a few years ago. It brought back some great memories. My best friend of 30 years gave me that CD. He just died 5 years ago. You Brazilians have ALWAYS been musical prodigies and pioneers. I have tremendous respect and love for your entire musical culture from your ancient chants to Bossa Nova to your contemporary music! Jobim, Sergio Mendez, etc. The song "Capim" is still one of my all-time favorites. THX FOR POSTING!!!

@brassmanla Well, Djavan is not one of my favotities but Capim is so far his best song. Try some João Bosco, Jorge Ben Jor and Tim Maia. Especialy this one: A Minha Teimosia é uma Arma from Jorge Ben Jor. Brilliant. Thanks for comment! Steely Dan Rules!!!
