Charging a super capacitor (or ultracapacitor) with a joule thief. The supercaps are connected to 4 LEDs which actually burn brighter than one led hooked up to twice the voltage.

  • Hello, I have a question.

If you charge the supercapacitors get the battery out and don't turn on the LED's, how long does it take for the capacitors to discharge? Longer than 12 hours?

  • @Curixq - Yes, longer than 12 hours. The super caps (at least the ones I have) will drain to about 80% of their capacity quickly (within 20 minutes). After that, though, they drain (without a load) much slower. They definitely maintain over 50% charge after 12 hours.

  • Hi, Do you have a schematic of this ? I want to experiment with capacitor charging and discharging on an HHO circuit.

  • Would be nice :)

  • Can you show a tutorial on how to make a joule thief?

  • Do you have a schematic of this? That you can share?

  • Impressive, would like to see more.
