Reconstruction of Kabul-Jalalabad road

The European Union has invested heavily in the reconstruction of Afghan infrastructure, in particular the Kabul-Jalalabad road, linking the Afghan capital with northern Pakistan and the main trade link of the country. In addition to this highway, the EU has supported the construction of more than 200 km of feeder roads which are absolutely essential to connect the rural population to cities and markets. Engineer Ahmad Bashir, EC Project Officer, explains the main features of the Kabul-Jalalabad road.
