7th Annual IIT Pumpkin Launch

October 15, 2011 was a beautiful day for tossing gourds at the 7th annual IIT/BMES Pumpkin Launch on Ed Glancy Field, where student teams competed for prizes using pumpkin-launching machines they designed and built. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, family, and friends gathered to watch the teams compete for distance and accuracy while enjoying fall treats and pumpkin carving.
Each team had up to two attempts to compete for overall distance and accuracy to distances predicted by each team.
Distance Competition
1st: ITR - Car Smashers (250 ft)
2nd: Hugh Jass (101 ft)
3rd: The Transfermers (47 ft)
Accuracy Competition
1st: Hugh Jass (off by 1 ft)
2nd: The Transfermers (off by 3 ft)
3rd: Team Ballista (off by 18 ft)
The 7th annual Pumpkin Launch was organized by the IIT Biomedical Engineering Society, Office of Student Affairs, Alumni Association, and participating faculty members.
