Magda Tagliaferro (1893-1986), one of the most important Cortot´s pupils, friend of Fauré and a lot of great giants in music, stilled playing until her death, with 93 y old. A french-brazillian pianist.

  • We are lucky to have a number of very fine and very different interpretations of this beautiful piece on YT,(Long,Ferber....). Here's yet another, fascinating & authorititive. Magda T. emphasises lines & rythmic logic,(perhaps over stressing a little?)rather than melting harmonies. I prefer a tenderer reminiscence in the final phrase, but there's no doubting her view of Fauré as a strong musical figure. Very fine playing in filigree decoration.

  • Tagliaferro was a very important Cortot´s pupil and was a friend , dispite of the difference of the age, of Fauré, who liked her interpretations of all nocturnes; besides he gave her advices how to play his works. She was brlliant and played until her death, with 93 y old. Wonderful Magda!

  • This is indeed a beautiful performance of this masterpiece. I also love Marguerite Long's interpretation of this work, posted on Youtube.
