Good to see the BBC giving lots of information to the Argies. Traitors

@andyindublinireland thank you, I was wondering what her name was!

My word Jan Leeming was a babe

My dad served in the Falklands in 1983, in the RN, and many of my friends at the time had father's in the Fleet Air Arm, RMs, and RN during the war. I have such respect for them. Hopefully the Argentinians wont attempt this again.

Chest expanding pride of those men which represented the best of Britain. To have to achieve what they did eight thousand miles away is not too short of heroic but more importantly the fact that the civilians on the islands are liberated and free once again. God save the Queen
-
@lexsoOr And your point is also correct because Britain does not hold the Falkland Islands as a colony or as a colonial power. The relationship is based on consent and self-determination. The islanders want to remain under British sovereignty, so that is the end of the matter really.
-
@lexsoOr I think the rather muddled point is that Britain holds the Falklands as a colonial power, and that UN anti-colonial resolutions should lead to British withdrawal from its colonial sphere, including the Falklands. Presumably this would be followed by Argentinian political authority over the FI, which, according to the premiss of the argument, would effectively be a new colonial master! It is rather absurd to use an anti-colonial argument in support of a transfer of colonial authority!!

@truckerfromreno Sorry, previous comment (see below) was reply to your earlier comment. However boring or predictable, all my comments are variations on the same theme: that the Falklands Islands are British sovereign territory and they should remain British sovereign territory. No concessions should be made to nations with bogus 'historical' claims, and any aggression should be met by fierce resistance and aggression on our part. That just about covers it!

Love your confidence, which I share. Even if they had the capability to attempt invasion, we have too much hardware in place to defend the islands and we can also draw on large numbers of combat-ready troops. New aircraft carriers are being deployed in the S. Atlantic soon so the chances of being taken by surprise are virtually zero. So if it comes to a firefight we will certainly inflict heavy casualties on ANY enemy. They know this, hence the diplomatic charm offensive, which will not succeed
How stupid are the Argies to take on Great Britain? Silly south American, surrendering peasants.
