Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

"I am, by default, participating in a fierce competition for democratic expression;
meaning that I, the citizen, compete with giant corporations for influence
over government policy, and the determining factor of such is a politician,
who is nothing more than another competitor in such a system,
and that his or her choices are swayed by capital, which in terms of amount,
there can be no comparison: I have little and the corporations have much.

But I have a voice. Lend me your ear." -- Makana

We Are The Many

Ye come here, gather 'round the stage
The time has come for us to voice our rage
Against the ones who've trapped us in a cage
To steal from us the value of our wage

From underneath the vestiture of law
The lobbyists at Washington do gnaw
At liberty, the bureaucrats guffaw
And until they are purged, we won't withdraw

We'll occupy the streets
We'll occupy the courts
We'll occupy the offices of you
Till you do
The bidding of the many, not the few

Our nation was built upon the right
Of every person to improve their plight
But laws of this Republic they rewrite
And now a few own everything in sight

They own it free of liability
They own, but they are not like you and me
Their influence dictates legality
And until they are stopped we are not free

We'll occupy the streets
We'll occupy the courts
We'll occupy the offices of you
Till you do
The bidding of the many, not the few

You enforce your monopolies with guns
While sacrificing our daughters and sons
But certain things belong to everyone
Your thievery has left the people none

So take heed of our notice to redress
We have little to lose, we must confess
Your empty words do leave us unimpressed
A growing number join us in protest

We occupy the streets
We occupy the courts
We occupy the offices of you
Till you do
The bidding of the many, not the few

You can't divide us into sides
And from our gaze, you cannot hide
Denial serves to amplify
And our allegiance you can't buy

Our government is not for sale
The banks do not deserve a bail
We will not reward those who fail
We will not move till we prevail

We'll occupy the streets
We'll occupy the courts
We'll occupy the offices of you
Till you do
The bidding of the many, not the few

We'll occupy the streets
We'll occupy the courts
We'll occupy the offices of you
Till you do
The bidding of the many, not the few

We are the many
You are the few

  • Thank You Mr. Makana

As a combat veteran I am pleased to see my fellow Americans beginning to stand up. When I was young I was misled with the ideas of patriotism to go to another country and fight in a war supposedly for the freedom of others. When I think that I put my life on the line every day for months and that it meant NOTHING. I can't tell you what it means to me to see the people stand up for each other and themselves and also to seek after the same principles our fore fathers believe

  • This a great song, wonderful lyrics sounds reminiscent of Bob Dylan

  • @bsteadman1 please don't plague this page with your ridiculous birth-er rant.

  • Barack Hussein Obama II, illegal President, was born August 4, 1961 at the Coast Province General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya and NOT in Hawaii as he claims. A high resolution copy of OBAMA’S KENYAN BIRTH CERTIFICATE is available for free download at WasObamaBornInKenya (DOTcom) … Lucas Daniel Smith obtained a certified copy of Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate from the birth hospital in February 2009. His amazing story is told in a VIDEO that is also available for viewing at the same website.

  • I do appreciate that you gave us the lyrics, though! and the other thoughts included!
